Death Train Defense Guide
Master defensive strategies and unit placement to maximize your survival chances in Death Train.
Strategic Unit Placement
Front Car Priority
Place units on the front cars of the train for maximum range and firing time. Units here engage enemies earlier and more frequently, maximizing their effectiveness.
- Units on front cars have more time to engage enemies
- Better line of sight to approaching threats
- More opportunities to deal damage before enemies reach the Gem
AoE Positioning
Position AoE units where they have a clear line of sight to the center of the track. This maximizes splash damage effectiveness and ensures they hit multiple targets.
Coverage Zones
Spread units across different train cars to create overlapping coverage zones. This ensures no area is left undefended.
Baiting and Distraction Tactics
Unit Aggro System
Zombies prioritize attacking buildings and units before going for the Gem. Use this to your advantage by placing defensive structures strategically.
Distraction Structures
Place non-essential structures at the edge of your train car to "bait" zombie attacks. This buys your main damage-dealers more time to eliminate threats.
- Use cheaper units as bait on the edges
- Protect high-value units by placing them behind bait structures
- Create multiple layers of defense
Strategic Sacrifice
Sometimes sacrificing a weaker unit to protect the Gem is the right choice. Plan your defense with this in mind.
Defense Optimization Tips
- • Upgrade Before Expand: Always prioritize upgrading existing units before placing new ones
- • Balance Coverage: Mix single-target and AoE units for balanced defense
- • Protect the Gem: Always keep the Gem as your top priority - if it's destroyed, you lose
- • Adapt to Waves: Adjust your defense strategy based on the current wave and enemy types
- • Use Personal Weapons: Don't forget your personal weapons - they're vital for handling Personal Chasers
- • Monitor Health: Keep an eye on unit health and replace damaged units when necessary
Wave-Specific Defense Strategies
Early Waves (1-10)
Focus on basic coverage. Place starter units on front cars. Single-target units are sufficient.
Mid Waves (11-20)
Start incorporating AoE units. Mix single-target and AoE for balanced defense. Upgrade your Gem to unlock better units.
Late Waves (21+)
AoE units become essential. Single-target units will be overwhelmed. Focus on maximum AoE coverage and high damage output.
Boss Waves
Combine high-damage single-target units for the boss with AoE units to clear accompanying enemies. Save resources before boss waves.
