Beginner's Guide to Death Train
New to Death Train? This guide will help you get started and establish your first line of defense.
🟢 Getting Started
Initial Setup
When you spawn, you begin with:
- 20 starting dollars
- A shovel for personal combat
- A gold bar at the cell table
First Steps
- Sell your starting gold bar to afford your first units
- Deploy basic units like Cowboy Guard on train cars
- Use your shovel to personally kill zombies in early waves for extra gold
- Place units on the front cars for maximum firing time
The Diamond Core
Your primary goal is to protect the diamonds (Gem) on the train. If zombies reach and damage them, your run ends.
- The Gem is located on your train
- Zombies will attack your units first before targeting the Gem
- Use this to your advantage by placing defensive structures to bait enemies
- Upgrading the Gem increases its health and unlocks better units
Early Game Strategy
Unit Placement
Place your first gunners on the front cars of the train to maximize their firing time as the train moves toward zombie groups.
Active Defense
Use your shovel in early waves to personally take down zombies. This saves your units' health and helps you farm gold for initial upgrades.
Economy
Killing zombies earns you gold, which is used to buy more units or upgrade existing ones. Focus on building a solid foundation before expanding.
Essential Tips
- Always prioritize upgrading existing units before placing new, weaker ones
- Don't ignore player weapons like the Rifle - your personal DPS is vital
- Stay near the train when exploring to avoid triggering too many personal chasers
- Focus on AoE (Area of Effect) units as you progress - they're essential for late-game
